A terrier occurs as class action of puppy breeds ab initio bred for hunting & killing vermin. When unremarkably little, these dogs come brave out & hard, & have a lively, up-&-coming, and just about overactive personality.
Virtually all terrier breeds were developed in the British Isles. It were utilized to hunt fox, otter, badger, and rat both over & under a ground. As a matter of fact, a word terrier comes from either a Middle French terrier & prior to that a Latin 'terra', meaning earth.
Terrier Class action is besides an official breed grouping for virtually all of the major kennel clubs including the AKC, ANKC, CKC, Fédération Cynologique Internationale, KC(UK), NZKC and UKC. Mind that non totally terriers come in the terrier class action, & non whole dogs in the terrier groups come terriers.

Terrier types and groups
Terrier breeds may be divided into different types & groups, like:
Hunting Terriers - used to locate, track, or even even trail quarry, so bolt from either a den or tree the quarry.
Show Terriers - bred for even the show ring or when little pets.
Working Terriers - used to function denning quarry.
Fell Terriers - breeds developed in northern England for predator obliteration.
Hunt Terriers - breeds developed in southern England to bolt foxes when you took the traditional coyote hunt.
A Bull and Terrier types (of which the modern Bull Terrier is one) were originally combinations of bulldogs and terriers when general mixed breed pit dogs. In the late 1800's, it were refined into separate breeds that combined terrier & bulldog qualities. Except for Boston Terriers, they are typically shown when terriers.
